Meet the Team: Peter- Electrical Qualified Supervisor

Peter is the Electrical Qualified Supervisor (qualified electrician) at South Lakes Housing where he works within the Repairs and Maintenance Team. He has worked here for 6 years where he has spent the last year in his current role.

As part of his job, Peter oversees all aspects of electrical work by the in-house trades team. He is responsible for the safety, technical standard and quality of electrical work completed by his team of electricians.

As part of his qualified supervisor role, he also audits/checks other external electricians work, ensuring that Health and Safety and other legislative requirements are met. He ensures that suitable and up to date training is provided to the electrical operatives that work within the repairs and maintenance team. Peter will also make sure that appropriate testing equipment is provided and regularly checked.

Authorisation of all electrical paperwork for the organisation is carried out by Peter, ensuring that the results of inspections and tests by other electricians are recorded correctly on the appropriate certificates or reports and then transferred onto the housing associations computer systems.

Other duties include that of advising the asset team on specifications for electrical materials that are used on kitchen, bathrooms and rewires replacement works.

He is also an out of hours electrician who provides a rapid response to emergency call outs whether during the day or when the office is shut. Peter prides himself on not only being an electrician but having other skills (multi-skilled) so he can help out with other areas of repair work such as plumbing, joinery or plastering work when required.

Peter said, “ I really like helping our customers and supporting the other electricians within the business. My work is very varied and no two days are the same especially as I work across both the responsive team, voids and emergency out of hours team.”.
