South Lakes Housing (SLH) owns and manages around more than 3,200 homes in one of the most stunning parts of the UK. Our offices in Kendal sit on the edge of the Lake District National Park and just a few miles to the east you’ll find yourself in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.     Responsible for: Corporate Support Partner and Corporate Support Assistants

    Purpose of the job: As Head of Governance & Risk, you will provide leadership on Governance, Risk & Assurance strategies, policies and practices. This will ensure that the organisation meets the highest standards of excellence in governance and ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory reporting requirements. You will drive the policy and strategy framework and act as the Data Protection Officer and Deputy Company Secretary. You will also coordinate health and safety actions across the organisation, ensuring that managers are able to access appropriate internal support and external advice. This is a strategic post and has budget responsibility for c£50k pa.

    Salary: £54,855

    Location: Our office is based in the scenic market town of Kendal. We have a hybrid working policy in place.

    Annual Leave: Up to 28 days holiday plus public holidays.

    Job Description – Building Safety Assistant

    As Building Safety Assistant, you will be responsible for actively managing our Asset Management System and ensuring that all orders are actioned and closed on completion. You will be responsible for electronically recording and storing data and reports on the system and for ensuring that the latest data is easily available to colleagues and contractors. You will undertake Quality Assurance checks on data and reports presented by the surveying teams, consultants, and contractors, to maintain the data integrity of our systems and prevent data corruption. You will liaise across the business to maximise opportunities for access and minimise disruption to customers.

    Hybrid working is operated at South Lakes Housing and is applicable to this role.

    The Role
    The role of the Finance Business Partner (Homes) will provide a link between the Finance and Homes Directorates. The post will be accountable for the delivery of a range of financial services and analysis to senior internal decision makers and be a lead representative of Finance development of a ‘customer first focussed’ approach.

    Key accountabilities

    • Delivery of a comprehensive budget, management, and financial accounting service to budget holders in respect of:
      • the Major Repairs programme, ensuring the timely and accurate reporting and forecasting of expenditure
      • Application of accounting policies to maintain the component accounting fixed assets registers
      • the subsidiary Housing and Property Services that delivers responsive, void, and programmed maintenance
    • Partnering budget holders, ensuring accurate and timely financial analysis, reporting and support to the Homes Directorate, their management teams and budget holders to deliver their own strategies and plans
    • Provide cashflow information and forecasts to the Finance Business Partner (Treasury & Development) with relevant commentary to support forecasts
    • Resolve any issues or queries and developing wider understanding of financial reports and processes.
    • Implement the continuous improvement of finance processes and systems to maximise the accurate, timely and tailored services to customers

    The Person

    • You will ideally be a fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA or CIMA) or be actively studying towards qualifying.
    • A natural business partner it is essential you have the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-finance members of the team.
    • You will have a strong technical grasp to be able to follow regulatory rules for returns and be an advocate for the continuous improvement of finance processes and systems
