Ulverston Town Hall

South Lakes Housing is undertaking the conversion and refurbishment of the historic Ulverston Town Hall into 17 affordable properties.

The 17 affordable properties will consist of:

  • 11— 1 Bed Apartments
  • 6— 2 Bed Apartments

This innovative project breathes new life into a historic and much-loved building in the centre of Ulverston which had previously been underused and difficult to maintain. The impressive outcome demonstrates South Lakes Housings commitment to positively investing in communities across South Lakeland and beyond.

The new and converted homes have been built by South Lakes Housings contractor Leck and will offer high standards of energy efficiency due to the levels of insulation and the installation of air source heat pumps which will help keep fuel bills more affordable for residents and is in line with South Lakes Housing commitment of Greening its homes. The 1 and 2 bedroom apartments also offer good space standards and internal storage.

Some of the original features of this historic civic building have been preserved including the wooden sash windows which have been fitted with secondary glazing to reduce any heat loss, the ceiling in the previous council chamber has been preserved with the installation of a secondary ceiling and the two original wooden front entrance doors have been retained and updated with weatherproofing strips to reduce possible draught.
