Meet the Team: Paul- Building Surveyor

Paul has worked for South Lakes Housing for 18 years, over these years he has developed his skills and knowledge to develop his role within the business.

He originally started out as a builder in 2002 in our repairs and maintenance team he then moved on to become a repairs team leader and after this, his role changed to become the Planned Works Team Leader.

Paul is now a Builder Surveyor here at South Lakes Housing. As a Building Surveyor Paul works in close partnership with customer services, the in-house trades team and external agencies.

Paul said, “I really like problem-solving and my role here at SLH always allows me to do just that. It is a great feeling when I reach suitable outcomes for us and most importantly the tenant.”

In total Paul has 37 years’ experience in the building trade and has a wealth of knowledge and skills to help him effectively carry out his role as a building surveyor here at South Lakes Housing.

Pre and post works inspections are carried out by Paul to ensure the right work is completed to a high standard that meets our customers’ needs and meets current legal and regulatory requirements. Inspections, management of works and diagnosis of works are also part of Paul’s responsibility.

Paul will carry out surveys for large repairs, damp, mould and referrals for aids and adaptions so that he is able to put together a specification to outline what is required for the work to be carried out.

He will provide advice to tenants about how to prevent mould and condensation as well as referring them onto other teams within South Lakes Housing who will be able to provide them with further advice.

Working closely with the Customer Service Team and the Tenancy Management Team helps Paul to effectively carry out his job to a high standard as there is clear communication between them all.

Paul said, “I interacted daily with our customers and strive to provide them with the best service possible. I try to make sure that every aspect of the customer’s experience is delivered to the highest standard”.
