Meet the Team: Matt- Assets Surveyor
Matt joined South Lakes Housing in June 2019 as a Multi-Skilled Operative. He had previously worked as a self-employed builder for 12 years before joining us.
Matt has since moved to work within our Asset Team as an Assets Surveyor, he has only been with the team for a short time and is currently learning how he can contribute to the team within the delivery of safe and compliant homes.
He has an NVQs in trowel occupations which he gained during his time as an apprentice within the Lake District. Matt has also furthered his development by studying his HND/C in construction Management.
Matts main responsibilities lie with carrying out stock condition surveys to maintain our SLH home standards, as well as these surveys he will be carrying out surveys to our infrastructure, garages, new build properties and our commercial assets to maintain our set standards.
As part of a Stock Condition survey, Matt will go out to our tenants homes every seven years to assess the age and condition of the major elements of your home (such as kitchens and bathrooms), allowing us to estimate the renewal year for each item. He will also assess the general condition of each property to ensure they are to the correct standards throughout our stock.
I believe that by being able to get out and talk to our tenants is the best way we can gain the most insight and knowledge concerning property issues. Matt
He possesses a can-do attitude and is very approachable and is often be seen to go the extra mile to both his colleagues and our tenants.
