Tenancy Support Visit Introduction

Every year, your Housing Officer will visit you at home to carry out a Tenancy Support Visit.

Unlike other visits that focus on one specific thing, such as repairs, gas safety checks or surveys, a Tenancy Support Visit is your chance to have a catch up with us about how things are going in your home and tenancy.

Think of it as your annual housing “health check!”

What will we talk about?

We’ll have a chat about:

  • How you’re getting on in your home.
  • Any support, help or advice you might need.
  • Your tenancy and any questions you have.
  • Your neighbourhood and local community.

As part of the visit, we’ll walk around your home with you to make sure everything is safe, comfortable and in good working order.

How is this different from other visits?

Other visits often focus on a single issue:

🏠 Repairs appointments fix a repair.
🔥 Gas safety checks focus on your gas appliances.
🔨 Stock condition surveys look at things like kitchens, bathrooms and heating systems.
🌳 Estate inspections focus on communal areas and outdoor spaces.

A Tenancy Support Visit is different because it’s all about the bigger picture. We want to understand how you are getting on and whether there’s anything we can do to help you enjoy your home and tenancy.

Why are we doing this?

We believe great housing is about people, not just buildings.

By visiting every resident every year, we can:

  • Get to know you better.
  • Make sure you’re getting the support you need.
  • Help resolve issues early.
  • Answer any questions you may have.
  • Ensure you’re getting the most from your tenancy.
  • Help keep homes and communities safe and thriving.

Do I need to prepare?

The visit is friendly and informal. If there’s anything you’d like to discuss, simply make a note of it and we’ll be happy to chat it through with you.

If you have a photo ID available, we’d appreciate it if you could have this ready, as we’ll ask to see it during the visit to confirm your identity. This isn’t a problem if you don’t have photo ID, just let us know when we visit.

We’re looking forward to meeting you and helping you make the most of your home, your tenancy and your community. 😊

Your Housing Officer is here to help, so don’t be afraid to ask questions or raise any concerns during the visit.
