Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund
To deliver the Government’s ambitious plans to upgrade 5 million homes and slash fuel poverty, South Lakes Housing have secured £3.7m of £7m Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund Wave 3 awarded to Westmorland and Furness Council through the challenge fund delivery route.
This supports our commitment to provide quality homes to South Lakes Housing residents, by investing over £40 million in our existing homes by 2031. Warm Homes Funding builds upon the previous Government funding secured through Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund with the energy efficiency of over 800 homes being improved.
671 South Lakes Housing homes will benefit from Warm Homes funding, helping to improve energy efficiency and reach an EPC Band C. South Lakes Housing is delivering the investment works alongside Sureserve Energy Services Limited. This investment will make homes warmer and more comfortable, lower energy bills, reduce carbon emissions, and help tackle fuel poverty, while also supporting local employment.

Deliver cost effective carbon savings to contribute to carbon budgets, and progress towards the UK’s target for Net Zero by 2050 by reducing CO2 emissions from social housing.

Reduce the number of households in fuel poverty by improving the energy efficiency rating of social homes below EPC band C and reducing energy bills.
Tenants
Improve the comfort, health, and wellbeing of social housing tenants by delivering warmer and more energy-efficient homes.

Support economic resilience and a green recovery in response to the economic impacts of Covid-19, supporting thousands of jobs.
Develop the Retrofit Sector
Create the conditions for growth in the retrofit supply chain capacity and capabilities, boosting productivity and innovation in the construction sector. Additionally, upskilling social landlords in retrofit to support future improvements to energy efficiency in the social housing sector.

How will I know if I am included in the Warm Homes Programme?
Only properties which have a current Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating below Band C will be included in the Warm Homes Programme.
Residents will be written to in advance to confirm they have been selected to be in the programme.
What energy saving improvements will be included in the Warm Homes Programme?
Properties identified to be included in the Warm Homes Programme may benefit from one or more of the following measures. A retrofit assessment completed for each property in the programme will determine the works needed to make your homes more energy efficient.
