South Lakes Housing receives Tpas Accreditation.

South Lakes Housing is delighted to announce that it has been accredited by Tpas, the national tenant engagement organisation, for its work in tenant/resident involvement.

Tpas are England’s leading Tenant Engagement experts. They promote, support and champion tenant involvement and empowerment in social housing across England.

The accreditation process has supported us in placing tenants and residents at the heart of everything we do, and we take every opportunity to involve them in decision making. This will ensure that we are fully accountable to the needs of our tenants. This accreditation recognises that commitment to tenant engagement.

Pam Mastrantonio, Chief Executive at South Lakes Housing, said: “We are so proud to have achieved Tpas Accreditation. It recognises the hard work and commitment of colleagues and residents and shows how seriously we take listening to residents and involving them in decisions that shape our services. This is at the heart of our new business strategy, Your Home, Our Community, which sets out our commitment to working alongside residents to create great homes and thriving communities.

The Tpas Accreditation process has challenged us with useful recommendations for improvement and has highlighted where we are doing things well. The opportunities to learn from others during this process were fantastic and we can learn a lot from the way other organisations do things.”

To receive the Tpas Accreditation, South Lakes Housing has had to develop a strong culture of involvement and drive business improvements for us and our tenants. Our colleague and resident volunteers have been through the rigorous process, which includes a framework to self-assess resident involvement, which is then tested through reality checks, visits, and interviews. Finally, we have held a Tpas Scrutiny Panel meeting to decide if the required standards have been achieved.

It is a monumental achievement to have our approach recognised through the Tpas Accreditation process.

Jenny Osbourne MBE, Chief Executive, Tpas. added,

“We’re delighted that South Lakes Housing has successfully been accredited with Tpas. By completing the meticulous process to become an accredited housing organisation, South Lakes Housing has demonstrated their continuing commitment to the values we share.

Tpas believe that involving tenants in all aspects of service delivery in the housing sector is not only the right thing to do but also makes great business sense. We look forward to sharing the stories of how South Lakes Housing has used the accreditation process to achieve success by working together with tenants.”
