South Lakes Housing Invests in New Electric Vans to Support Greener Services

South Lakes Housing has taken another step towards reducing its environmental impact with the introduction of new electric vans for its Property Services team.

The new vehicles will help colleagues travel across our communities while reducing carbon emissions and supporting our commitment to creating a more sustainable future.

The electric vans will be used by colleagues carrying out repairs, maintenance and other essential services, helping us continue to deliver for residents while reducing the environmental impact of our day-to-day operations.

The investment forms part of South Lakes Housing’s wider commitment to sustainability and achieving the goals set out in our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) ambitions.

Paul Smith, Director of Property Operations (pictured on the right above with Cory Robinson, Repairs Manager), said:

“Introducing electric vans is another positive step in reducing our environmental impact while continuing to provide high-quality services for our residents. This investment supports our wider sustainability ambitions, helping us reduce carbon emissions while ensuring our teams can continue delivering essential repairs and maintenance services across our communities.”

As well as reducing emissions, electric vehicles can help lower running costs and support the transition to cleaner transport across the region.

Last week, members of SLH’s Senior Leadership Team became the first passengers to try out the new electric vehicles during a visit to Hallgarth in Kendal, where they held an informal drop-in session with residents over tea and cake. The vans are now ready to be handed over to their new drivers and will soon be seen across our communities as colleagues continue delivering essential services to residents and communities.

Don’t forget to give us a wave when you see us go past!!!
