South Lakes Housing at Kendal Pride 2026
South Lakes Housing (SLH) was proud to take part in Kendal Pride 2026, joining residents, partners and the wider community to celebrate diversity, inclusion and belonging.

As a local housing provider, being part of Pride is an important way for us to connect with our communities, listen to residents, and show our commitment to creating safe, welcoming places to live.
Connecting with our community
Throughout the day, our team welcomed residents and visitors to the SLH stall, creating a space for open conversation, information sharing and support.
Many residents spoke with us about their experiences, what matters most to them in their communities, and how we can continue to improve our services. Events like Kendal Pride give us valuable opportunities to engage in a more informal and approachable way, helping us to build stronger relationships and better understand the needs of the people we serve.

Supporting LGBTQ+ residents
In the lead-up to Pride, SLH worked in partnership with Rainbow Roofs, an organisation that supports LGBTQ+ people with housing and community connections.
Their visit helped to raise awareness among staff and residents of the challenges some LGBTQ+ individuals may face, as well as the support available to help people feel safe, respected and included in their homes and communities.
By working together, we are strengthening our ability to signpost residents to the right support and ensuring that inclusion remains at the heart of our services.

Pride as a community experience
Kendal Pride brought together a wide range of local organisations and residents, creating a positive and welcoming environment for everyone.
It was encouraging to see residents engaging with the event, whether by speaking with our team, taking part in activities, or connecting with other organisations. For some, it was an opportunity to celebrate openly; for others, it offered a chance to access support and feel part of a wider community.

Our ongoing commitment
Taking part in Kendal Pride is just one part of our wider commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion across South Lakes Housing.
We are committed to making sure all residents feel respected, supported and safe in their homes, and we will continue to work with partners and communities to make this a reality.
