Kirkby Lonsdale Community Cupboard CIO is relocating to South Lakes Housing’s, Binfold Croft.
To mark the start of Rural Housing Week, we are delighted to announce that local rural charity Kirkby Lonsdale Community Cupboard CIO is relocating its Food Cupboard to Binfold Croft – one of our Independence schemes for older people in Kirkby Lonsdale.
We will launch this new collaboration with a tea party providing drinks and delicious cakes on Thursday 17th July from 2pm to 4pm. And invite anyone who would like to find out more to come along and eat cake!
The Community Cupboard in Kirkby Lonsdale offers food resources, social activities, and practical advice on various topics like affordable warmth and accessing benefits.

Amanda Gorton, General Manager of the Kirkby Lonsdale Community Cupboard is delighted to be working with Chris Hollis from South Lakes Housing and said “SLH have been a great support for the initiative and its move to Binfold Croft, and we look forward very much to developing this collaboration, so that we can expand the range of activities and services we offer.”

Chris said, “We are excited to host this initiative and to see so many of our residents are lending their support. It is very important to the local community – presenting residents with an opportunity to volunteer, socialise and to access affordable food. I am very much looking forward to 17th July!”
Jane Mindar – Independence Manager at SLH said “Our Independence team support older people to make the most of their lives and social inclusion is a huge part of this. We hope that working with the Community Cupboard evolves into many more opportunities for our residents and that this social hub model can be replicated in our other areas.”
