In 2024/25, we allocated £12.1 million to major repairs aimed at enhancing residents’ homes, including £4.3 million dedicated to improving energy efficiency as part of our ‘Warmer, Greener, Homes’ initiative.
Improving our Residents' Homes

Many of you have told us your homes feel warmer and more comfortable.
This investment has positively impacted hundreds of residents, such as Rhoda, who has lived in her Kendal home for over 30 years. She found her home more comfortable after SLH installed solar panels, cavity wall insulation, and upgrading ventilation in 2024.
Before the improvements, Rhoda described the house as cold, with high bills, requiring extra layers of clothing, and she frequently experienced colds. She noted: “It’s nicer now. It’s a lot better.”

Paul Smith, our Head of Property Services said, “Our residents are getting great value for money and they’re reducing their energy bills. The most important thing is that it’s saved her money on her electricity bills, which is great.”
We are continuing to upgrade our homes so more residents can benefit from warmer homes and lower energy bills like Rhoda.

In 2024/25, we spent £1.0m spent on damp & mould and a further £903k on building safety. This year, we’ve focused on tackling damp and mould, speeding up repairs, and enhancing gas safety.
We’ve streamlined our processes to ensure a faster, more reliable service for all.
