New Rights to Access Information (STAIRs) at South Lakes Housing
From 1 October 2026, South Lakes Housing will be introducing new arrangements that make it easier for residents to access information about our services, performance and decision-making.
The changes are part of the new Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements (STAIRs), which have been introduced across the social housing sector to improve transparency, openness and accountability.
As part of these new requirements, we have created a Publication Scheme which will make a wide range of information available through our website. This means residents will be able to find key information quickly and easily without needing to make a request.
The information available includes:
- Performance information
- Key policies and strategies
- Governance and decision-making information
- Complaints information
- Health and safety information
- Financial and spending information
From 1 April 2027, residents and their representatives will also be able to make written requests for information relating to the management of South Lakes Housing’s social housing services.
You can read our STAIRs policy here and find full infromation about our approach to STAIRs here.

John Mansergh, Deputy Chief Executive at South Lakes Housing (pictured above consulting with residents and colleagues), said: “STAIRs is an important step in making sure residents can easily access clear information about how we work, how decisions are made and how we are performing. Being open and transparent is central to building trust, and this new publication scheme will help residents find the information that matters to them more quickly.”
