South Lakes Housing residents are being offered fully funded training in Construction Skills and local job opportunities through a recent partnership with CIDORI, Auxicia, and Kendal College.
Funding has been secured specifically for our community, meaning eligible residents can access free training, confidence‑building support, and help into employment, apprenticeships, or further education. This initiative forms part of our ongoing commitment to supporting residents to develop skills, build confidence, and access meaningful work.
What training is available?
Residents can apply for a Construction Skills Level 1 course, starting 13th July 2026. The course is delivered online with tutor‑led sessions and includes:

Highlights include:
- Health & Safety on a construction site
- Funded 2-year CSCS Green Card included*
- Personal development and resilience support
- Online tutor-led delivery
- Guaranteed interview or support with recruitment opportunities
*Subject to passing the relevant test.
Who can apply?
The training is open to residents aged 19 and over who are:
• Unemployed
• In receipt of benefits
• On a low income
