Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week 2025: How South Lakes Housing Is Taking Action

Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week 2025: How South Lakes Housing Is Taking Action

June 30–July 6 is Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week, and South Lakes Housing is proud to stand with national partners to raise awareness, support victims, and push for real change in how ASB is addressed.

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week

What is ASB?

Anti-social behaviour is any action that causes harassment, alarm or distress to others. This can include both criminal and non-criminal behaviours—such as noisy neighbours, fly-tipping, vandalism, graffiti, threatening behaviour, and general nuisance.

ASB affects lives and communities, and South Lakes Housing is committed to helping residents feel safe and supported in their homes.

Our Key Focus Areas This Week

In line with national guidance from Resolve UK, we’re highlighting four key areas throughout the week:

  1. Guaranteed support for victims – Ensuring everyone has access to help.
  2. Speedier justice – Addressing court delays that leave victims vulnerable.
  3. Improved information sharing – Calling for a single national agreement to enable faster, more effective multi-agency responses.
  4. Easier reporting – Launching new tools to make it simpler to speak up.

We’re Here for You

We take every report of ASB seriously. Here’s how we support you:

  • Fast responses: Serious cases acknowledged within 2 working days
  • Tailored action plans and ongoing updates
  • A victim-centred approach with full confidentiality
  • Multi-agency coordination for real impact

Let’s make our communities safer—together.

The Impact of Delays in Justice

We’re also using this week to highlight a growing concern—delays in the justice system. Some ASB victims are waiting up to two years for action, during which time they continue to suffer and perpetrators remain unchecked.

South Lakes Housing supports calls for:

  • A specialist housing court to handle ASB cases
  • Increased investment to speed up outcomes and reduce harm

When justice is delayed, victims suffer longer, trust in the system erodes, and communities remain at risk.

The Need for Better Information Sharing

ASB is rarely resolved by one agency alone—it takes a coordinated effort. But a recent Resolve UK survey revealed that:

  • 97% of professionals struggle to get timely info from partner agencies
  • 60% say this happens most or all of the time

South Lakes Housing backs the push for a single, national information-sharing agreement so we can respond faster and more effectively to support victims.

Don’t Suffer, Report It: New Reporting Campaign

As part of ASB Awareness Week, we’ve launched a new “Don’t Suffer, Report It” campaign. You’ll start seeing posters across our communities featuring QR codes linking directly to our secure online reporting form.

Why this matters:

  • Quick, easy access to report ASB
  • Confidential handling and regular updates
  • Real action taken through a strong partnership with local police and services
