Company overview

South Lakes Housing (SLH) owns and manages more than 3,200 homes in one of the most stunning parts of the UK.

Our office in Kendal sits on the edge of the Lake District National Park and just a few miles to the east you’ll find yourself in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It’s a fantastic place to live and work, that offers the ideal blend of quality of life and real professional challenge.

The need for affordable homes has never been greater, with many working families unable to afford market price homes in an area of high demand.

There couldn’t be a better time to join SLH as we have a new business strategy and a business transformation programme underway to take stock and refresh how we work, to ensure that we have the right structure, talent and objectives in place to deliver the very best on behalf of our customers and communities.

Looking to the future

South Lakes Housing remains as ambitious as ever and have set out clear goals in our 5-year business strategy with strategic themes of ‘Growing, Greening & Transforming’.

We have plans to build 400 new homes.
Investing to achieve all homes at Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Band C (except hard to treat) by 2025 and 80% customer satisfaction.

With the introduction of our Customer First Commitment and ‘Lets Make it Happen’ training programme which puts customers at the heart of everything we do at South Lakes Housing this will provide us with more opportunities to learn from our customer’s experience.

We are re-imagining our business, reshaping our services and ensuring that we are poised to respond to the needs of our customers and communities.

How do I apply?

Currently each role has a survey monkey questionnaire to complete. Trades colleagues are asked to send a CV.

How long does the recruitment process take?

At least 6 weeks. This includes the role promotion and an interview.

How do I know you recieved my application?

We’ll normally reply within 3 working days, upon receipt of the application.

How long until I hear back?

Typically we aim to have completed shortlisting within a week of the closing date.

Do I get feedback if I’m unsuccessful?

Upon request we will provide feedback for unsuccessful applicants after the interview stage.

What’s an SLH interview like?

Our interviews can take one of three formats;

  1. A round of questions (in person) focused on you and your ability to do the role.
  2. An assessment followed by a round of questions focused on you and your ability to do the role.
  3. A brief Microsoft Teams call, followed by a round of questions (in person) focused on you and your ability to do the role.

Do you have work experience opportunities?

To keep people safe, work experience opportunities can vary dependent on age and mainly consists of shadowing colleagues throughout their day.

Do you have apprentice opportunities?

We do offer apprentice opportunities, currently these are filled, please subscribe to our job alerts for a regular update.
