Decoration & Disturbance Allowance
A decoration allowance is a payment given
to a tenant for one of the following reasons:
- a new tenant going into their new home
- following major repairs or programmed works
within their home e.g. re-plastering
South Lakes Housing decides how much the
payment will be by calculating it on a room to room basis.
The decoration allowance is issued in a voucher
form that tenants can exchange for goods in certain DIY
stores. (NB this only applies for goods classed as decoration
materials.) The voucher must be used within 6 months of
issue.

to you within ten working days of the receipt detailing our
decision.
Can I appeal against your decision?

decision via the appeals procedure within 21 days of
