Current Garage Arrears
Where there are rent arrears or an account is in arrears for
too long, the Council may decide to repossess the garage. We
have a duty to recover all rent owed to South Lakes
Housing to fund the services we provide.
Unlike houses and flats, the Council do not have to apply to
courts for a Possession Order for a garage.
Tenants who are in arrears should get in contact as soon
as possible. Ignoring the situation can only make matters
worse, and may lead to repossession of your garage.
Should a garage be repossessed and be found to contain goods,
the tenant will be contacted and asked to removed them. Should
South Lakes Housing have to clear the garage, the cost of the
clearance along with the cost of any lock change will be charged to
the former tenant. This is in addition to any arrears
outstanding.
There may also be a waiting list for garages in your area.
