Compost Bins - Did you know?
- An average household with a compost bin is diverting roughly
220kg of kitchen and garden waste
- Roughly one third of dustbin rubbish can be composted
- "Compost" comes from the latin word "to put together"
- Vacuum cleaner bags can be emptied into the compost
- Bank statements and credit card bills can be shredded and
placed in your compost bin - as they literally disappear
- Lump wood charcoal ashes can be put into your compost bin, but
NOT other types as they may contain fire lighting fluids.
Wait until the ashes are cool before adding them to the bin
- People's hair or dog / pet hair can also be added
