Aids and Adaptations

Minor

You can request a minor work to be carried out by contacting South Lakes Housing directly.  The following are considered as minor works:

 

  • Small grab rails (internal or external)
  • Stair rails
  • External metal grab rails
  • Small ramp
  • Step modifications
  • Widening of footpaths
  • Adapting taps
  • Relocation of control switches and sockets
  • External lighting

 

(Other requests may be considered on application)

 

Major

Major works must be requested via the Occupational Therapists at Social Services.  If you would like to refer yourself to them, they will carry out an assessment to determine what we can provide you with to improve your quality of life.  Social Services contact details are as follows :

Works over £10,000

If you require works over £10,000 (i.e. an extension), you must contact the Occupational Therapist department at Social Services (using the above contact details).

 

They will carry out an assessment and provide South Lakes Housing with their recommendations.  At this time, you will receive a visit from South Lakes Housing to discuss your needs and other options available.
