Our Sheltered housing tenants have been taking part in the ‘Starts at Home’ campaign promoted by the National Housing Federation. This is the first national day of activities and actions to celebrate and advocate for supported housing ensuring that every person who needs extra support has a home that meets their needs.
We have been writing letters to local MP’s asking them to stand up in Parliament and speak against the proposed housing benefit cap that will affect the future of supported and sheltered housing schemes. The Government is currently reviewing how supported housing is funded and support services and amenities that keep people safe and free from social isolation are at risk.
We believe that the Government must take this opportunity to fully fund supported housing, and put these vital services on a sustainable footing for the long term. These vital services help a diverse range of people across the South Lakes area.
